Longbottom Leaf is a local alternative store, the kind of place that sells patchouli, incense, crystals, and used books. The students at Hastings University call it "The Marijuana Store".

Mall Hallway October 2011

This is what our shopping mall set looked like at the beginning of October 2011. A quick comparison with the older shot from the same angle will reveal a lot of changes. We now have an information kiosk (with blue screen) and new stores. In addition to Hair Brains, Circe's, and Longbottom Leaf (as seen above), we also have Wangs Sporting Goods. There is still work to be done, but the mall is mostly full now.

Hastings U Draft 2

A revision of the Hastings University establishing shot. Since last time, the sign letters have been fixed, the flowers have been revised, the buildings have been moved and resized, and a walkway has been added.

Walter Skee Ball

A render test of our new arcade set. Walter, one of our punks, is playing Skee Ball. We have a short sequence set in the Laurel Valley Mall's arcade, "Tilt", which is a deliberately retro establishment. Considering that by the time of the story, home systems have far surpassed any arcade machine, the primary appeal is nostalgia- that and games you just can't play at home, like Skee Ball. The machines were designed in Maya by Jess.

James Mortal Wombat

James is playing a retro cabinet of Mortal Wombat, which is a fighting game with lots of blood and fatalities. You know, like Time Killers. Judging by the cabinet graphics, this appears to be Ultimate Mortal Wombat 3. The cabinet model and graphics were designed in Maya by Jess, with model render provided by Andrew. The white-haired lady is actually based on the Debbie figure from Dark Dungeons.

Maria Dressing Room

Maria strikes a pose in our new dressing room set. This is the dressing room for Gaylen Ross, visible in several places in the mall set. This set is actually not physically connected to the Shopping Mall set, nor is the arcade set.
