Billy's Apartment Right View April 6, 2010 William's apartment is the location for a large portion of Maria, so we began our set design there. The blank figures are in the scenes for purposes of scale. On the bottom left, we have the living room, to the right is William's office/library. On the top, we have, from left to right, William's bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. At the time this image was produced, there was still a lot of work to be done. |
Billy's Apartment Left View April 6, 2010 The same apartment as above, but from the reverse direction. Clearly the bathroom needed some work still. |
William's Apartment 4-11-10 April 11, 2010 Serious progress has been made on the apartment set. The bedroom has been rearranged, and most significantly, the bathroom now has a full assortment of bathroom-type furnishings. We didn't have a shower curtain, so we made one in Maya. |
Shopping Mall 2 April 12, 2010 An early test of the shopping mall set. As above, the figure is in place only for scale. The set is Pzrite's Super Mall from Renderosity, and at this point the everything is stock but the floor textures. The original set is open at one end, so we created a copy, flipped it 180 degrees, and attached them at the middle (where the columns are). |

Meerschaum Logo April 12, 2010 As the name suggests, the logo for Meerschaum Industries, the robotics company that built Maria. "Meerschaum" means "seafoam" in German, and it is also the name of a type of pipe. The logo combines both meanings. C'est un pipe. |

Mike Preachin April 19, 2010 Mike Solomon, preacher and evangelist, rails against the evils of robotics on television. |
Maria Crate 1 April 19, 2010 This is the crate Maria arrives in. For someone at Meerschaum Industries, this constitutes "discreet packaging". |
Maria Crate 2 April 19, 2010 The interior of the crate, with an early version of Maria. We hadn't decided on a hairstyle yet, so we put the Elita hair on her just so she wouldn't be bald. |
Mall Hall 1 May 10, 2010 We weren't satisfied with the way the Shopping Mall set looked in closeup shots, so we began constructing a set of storefronts that offered more flexibility. This is an early version of that set. In the foreground is an information android; the projected "Information" holograms will be animated. |
Mall Hall Long 1 May 10, 2010 A long shot of the above scene. The ceiling was modeled in Maya. Obviously, nothing has been textured; the blue DAZ background color is visible to the left and the right, indicating there are no floors there. |
